As a professional percussionist, Yu-Cheng has premiered many percussion pieces in Taiwan, devoting most of his time to playing pieces of contemporary music. His masters essay A Multiple Percussion Study on <Interieur I> by Helmut Lachenmann is seen in Taiwan as important research in contemporary music.
In his masters degree, Yu-Cheng was also chosen to be the NTSO (National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra) and Taiwan Philharmonic assistant percussionist. In 2013, he was selected to be a Principal Timpanist in the Taiwan Philharmonic Academy Orchestra.
Yu-Cheng loves timpani. Performance highlights for him have included concerto appearances with Lien Percussion Group and Phonon Percussion Group. In 2013, he performed Concert Piece by Allen Houston (Taiwan Premier) in Taiwan and China, accompanied by Lien Percussion Group. In 2015, he played a world premier piece After the Mist and Shadow by Ting-Chuan Chen with Tunghai University Percussion Ensemble.
Yu-Cheng was born in Taiwan and is now studying his APD course at Birmingham Conservatoire.
